I have had my Khuli loach for quite a while, and I usually see him about once a day swimming around, but for the last 2 weeks I havent seen him. Then yesterday I saw him and as he was swimming from one hidy hole to the next I noticed a white spot on him Im assuming that it is ich. I want to catch him and put him in my hospital tank for treatment. I was wondering what is the best way to catch a Khuli loach, or will I have to dig through the gravel to get him?

put one of your algae wafers in the middle of the tank and take out all the big obstructions so u have a clear area for your net to move around. as soon as he goes for it quickly nad him with the net and boom you got yourself a kuhlii loach in a net.*crazysmil *crazysmil

Yep I used the 420Loach Method (tm) to catch my plecos. It worked very well even in a densely planted tank.. I also got my clown loach which I didnt want. Patience after the lights go out put some nice, juicy shrimp pellets also a 420loach suggestion - you will have no problem.:D

My dojo had something similar. He swims around fast, and I guess he bumped himself or did it burying in the gravel. I thought it was a disease too. :) Later, when I looked again it looked like he just scraped some scales off. He recovered very quickly without any infection. I would keep an eye on him in case he develops an infection. It will probably only take 2 or 3 days for his scrapes to be gone :)

Good to hear it :) I swear sometimes loaches do the silliest things and damage themselves doing it. :p We had one loach jump out of a container from the counter to the kitchen floor, and another one who decided to explore the intake of the powerhead on his first day in the tank. Luckily both survived. :D

One usefull trick for catching fish that came to light after an eventfull afternoon trying to catch a 6" Midas with a 5" net.......

Get an ornament/bit of wood with an arch in it, and stick it in one corner of the tank. Place a plastic bag in front of the arch.

Chase your target fish into the corner and he'll dart behind the ornament, then go down the back of the ornament after him, and he'll scoot through the arch to get away - straight into the bag.

Takes 30 seconds, and leaves your fish untouched.
