Well first of all this fish is very easy to take care of and will eat flake food and possobly, mabye brine shrimp. What i usually do to catch fish from streams is make my own net/trap. Depending on the size of the fish the net will vary. I used some old window screens to make a trap with bait inside to catch some small fish. Or you could just buy a net and try to catch them that way. Hopefully what i just said will help. Anyways good luck!

Just wondering where are you from or planning to collect swordtails. To the best of my knowledge swordtails are from Central America. If you have a non native population in your area that you are planning on collecting check local regs. to make sure your are not breaking any laws. Just because they are non native doesnt always mean they are legal to catch and keep.
