Hi all, I am looking to set up a central or south american cichlid tank, and am wondering what types of catfish seem to be the best tank-mates with these guys? I have a love for many synodontis cats, so are there any syns in particular that will live with these south/central american cichlids? also, i am not looking to purchase any of the HIGHLY aggressive cichlids, in case this matters.

also, i have never really looked into plecos before, but i guess i would like to inquire about plecos as well -- which plecos would be recommended by the experts here?

thanks in advance! :)

if your tanks big, pictus cats will work, but if you want synodontis catfish, get 'em.

just about any pleco would be good for the tank, but the ones most commonly availiable are common plecs and you might have a hard time finding another species.

in a 40-55 bushynose plecos would look nice,or rubber nosed plecos would work too.most any syno would work, though upside down synos are a bit small to live with some of the south american cichlids.lace synos feather fin synos, come to mind as cheap easy to find synos.some of the nicer ones can cost considerably more.
