I like catfish a lot. I’d say right behind loaches.
I wanted to try something new & I’ve liked the look of the different synodontis varieties I’ve seen.
So after a brief search, I bought 3 upside-down catfish & 3 featherfin catfish. They’re both great fish IMO.
The upside-down catfish definitely fill part of the weird fish roll, especially when they’re chasing each other. The reverse shading, light on the top & dark on the bottom, is also a nice change from other fish.
The featherfins are interesting for a few different reasons. First & foremost, the coloration on these guys is amazing. The dark brown/black & white marbling is really quite pretty. (Not that’s I’d say that in front of my rams…) Secondly, they cling onto almost any surface other than the ground & “sleep” there. I’ll find them sandwiched between 2 leaves on my swords or sitting camouflaged in a fold in my African black root. Last but not least, I’ve never seen a fish grow like this. I’ve only had them ~1 month & one has more than tripled in size! They were all ~1 inch long & now one is probably hitting 3.5 to 4.
Anyway, just my $.02 on some new fish I’ve never had.
And arcab, let me know if you want any pics for profiles.
Have fun.
