Hi Everyone, I was at the LFS this weekend, and I came across some Loaches that were Labeled "Chain Loaches" They looked alot like Yoyo's (With circles instead of yoyo on there sides) They actually looked like they had chain links on their sides. They were sooo cool looking, I refrained from buying, but would like some more info on them.....Adult size, diet, where do they originate from, do they like groups of themselves like many loaches do etc. I checked our profiles section and saw nothing on these guys...Any ideas?

they don't look like this do they:

Botia kubotai — Loaches Online

or this:

Schistura geisleri — Loaches Online

or this:

Dwarf Loach (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki) — Loaches Online

Those are a few i looked through here is a site listing alot of species of loaches takes time to get through them all but worth the effort if you like loaches:

Loach Species Index (Alphabetical) — Loaches Online

Don't post in their forums and expect a response as i posted questions there months ago and still haven't gotten but two half hearted replies. They have good information but lousy forum interaction unless you are a old time member with lots of posts and history witht their forums.IMO.

yea that is the second link i posted... i only knew them as sidthemunkie loaches... my lfs has some but not for sale till they get more in. I was gonna get some but opted for the yo yo loaches. They are another active species and stay small and won't harm plants, but i have yo yo with plants and no problems. I like those loaches but don't have the room for them right now. Perhaps after the move i can accomidate them into my upcoming 55 gallon tank.

Glad i could help. I got that link from someone in MFT and have found the species guide very usefull many times over again.
