He's a beautiful specimen. It's nice to see some red/orange mixed in with this species to give it more flare. Normally you don't see such hues in normal german blue ram species, which will only usually display yellow, purple, blue, etc. Did you purchase him from a LFS?

then your female must have been actually a dominate male, and the less color one could of been a female or a non-dominate male, and if you had them in a 10 gal then i would say you had one dominate male and one scared non-dominate male, because it is very hard to find females because they dont show as much color and that means they wont sell as much as the male, so fish stores dont carry them often

im sure i hade a female cause they kept chasing the betta away from a rock. they had atleast fifty rams in one tank at the store. some were also bolivians
