Chemical called "Cycle"

well i got my 55, got it all set up. it came with alot of stuff, chemicals and what not. he gave me a box of something called "Cycle" it's supposed to be like bio-spira i guess, but ive never seen this product ever before, i dont know how credible it is, anyone ever seen it? any experiences with it?

ehhh.

cycle isn't the greatest.

bio-spira is for instant cycling...add fish right away.

cycle.....IME, just doesnt work very well...

that's just me though.

may have worked great for someone else....

Far as I know "Cycle" coverts ammonia and nitrite to non-poisonous forms but still lets your bacteria colony work on it so they don't die out.I haven't had the greatest experiences with it either.I don't think it can be overdosed though so you can use it as much as you need to.Confirm this on the package please.

TLH is correct, it converts toxic substances. The problem is, that in the process it starves the bacterial colony. Smaller fish stores love the stuff, and pass it onto ignorant people(Goldfish are typically sold with it).

I've seen many a tank go for months without cycling, and then finish almost immediately when cycle is no longer used.
