More than likely the answer will be no. Cichlids are curious little buggers anyway, and if they think something has the potential to be food, they will be relentless to a snail like that. I've had a krib kill an apple snail that was almost as large as the krib was.
Yeah, I woulden't risk it unless you have some VERY doscile and well fed cichlids... I once had a 2" baby oscar devour a 2" giant columbian ramshorn snail... he was bloated laying on his side behind a plant for 2 days, but he got it all down...
I bought a medium sized black mystery snail and tried it out. They bother him every once in awhile. I usually keep my cichlids well fed. I feed them 3 times a day.(morning, afternoon, and before i go to bed.) I think it is going to work. If it doesn't I am going to put him in my 10g with some platies. Thanks for all the help!
Yeah, just keep a close eye on him, the Oscar never looked at the snail twice untill he decided to empty that shell LOL. It's good you have a backup plan, but if they decide they want to eat it, you probably won't have much time to save it LOL.
