chinese algea eater question

hey guys i was wondering if chinese algea eaters did a lot to control the algea in my tank because i never see anyone with chinese algea eaters so i'm thinking its probably because they aren't really helpful or good :/ and whats so good about a SAE?

I have heard that they work pretty well. My geometry teacher has one in his tank and it seems to do a pretty good job ( although he has about 4 plecos too). The only difference between the chinese and siamese algae eaters i think is there size. The siamese algae eaters don't grow as large as the chinese algae eaters. I just think a lot of people find the plecos or corys more desirable so they don't take into consideration the CAE. That's just my opinion though. All in all the CAE's are pretty good fish.

ya i like my CAE's but i was just wondering if there was a reason not many people have CAE's, i saw a gold CAE the other day wish i bought that one and a normal chinese algea eater but oh well, also my chinese algea eaters provide movent in the tank because all my fish are pretyt boring :/

Chinese algae eaters can be aggressive to other fish, while Siamese algae eaters are peaceful.

ya i've found that out already but right now they don't chase the other fish only the other CAE

I do not know anyone with CAE's, only because they can be aggressive as previously mentioned. Every person that I know has had them they have chased their fish and eventually killed some. But, they had them in smaller tanks than you have. That it the main reason why I got an oto instead because my tank with him in it is a small one, a ten gallon.

ya well i would have gotten some corys or ottos if my lfs sold them but still my mom didn't really like any of the other algea eaters and she had a CAE before so we have two now we might get some amano shrimp soon so it should be pretty helpful anyways thx for the replies
