I just bought a couple of new gouramis that the LFS had listed as a "Chocolate Gourami"

Currently they are small . . . only 1/2 inch or so. They are dark brown with pale cream iridescent vertical stripes.

Has anyone ever seen these before? I would like to get more info.

Thanks :)

Yes, but never kept them. Usually wild caught so hardish to breed. Pretty fish, queit, keep in soft low pH or susceptible to illness which they will demonstrate by dying with no warning. Scientific name Sphaericthys osphromenoides, and a good choice who wants to try keeping something a little harder. Up to 2 inchs

Thanks for the info.

Yes I was told that they were a bit picky about their water conditions (my pH is 6.5) and specifically that they were reluctant to accept anything but live foods. So far they have been doing fine (2 weeks). I have fed them live tubifex worms and brine shrimp. They have also eaten frozen brine shrimp too.

I look forward to seeing how they do.

Thanks again.
