Choosing suitable Silver Dollar Tankmates

hi I was wondering what Silver Dollars can go with peacefully and not bother in a 55 gallon tank. I was wondering if they can go with small fish like neons or cardinals or anything peaceful?

It depends on the size of the dollar and how often you want to replace your neons. There are a few threads floating around here about dollars, put in a search and see what you find.

I have a tank with lots of cardinals, glo lights, and rummy nose. (see thread on ick ...)

I have 3 silver dollars in there, 1" across, that are very peaceful so far. They like to snack on microsword! They are always nibbling at my plants, but there's more than enough for them to eat and it's good for them to have fresh veggies

They shouldn't harm any smaller fish. They might chase them from time to time but this is just "playing"

If you put a school of Dollars in there there shouldn't be a problem.

My latest Aquarium Fish Magazine (Nov. 2003), it has a long article about silver dollars, & a picture on the front cover. It says Silver Dollars are okay with flag cichlids, keyhole cichlids and jurupari, or any peaceful cichlid of like size. It also says they get along with plecos. And it says to avoid housing them with long-finned angelfish or Siamese fighting fish because trailing fins are too tempting. It's a very good article if you can find the magazine. It got me interested in wanting to try them in my next tank!
