Cichlid Hybrids

#1
I don't see a problem with Cichlid hybrids. In fact I think that they are actually pretty cool!. The only think I don't like is the mutilization. But other than that what's wrong?. Blood Parrots are cool!. Flowerhorn Cichlids are pretty cool too. If i knew which species of cichlids can crossbreed i would do it myself!. I would love to see something like a Convict and a Green Severum. Or a Green Terror and a Jack Dempsey. Or a Blue Acara with a Blood Parrot. If i ever had fertile fry I would grow them out and sell some to my lfs. But I would NEVER by any means sell them as a true strain!. *celebrate *thumbsups *PEACE!**BOUNCINGS

Hmm. sniff sniff. smells like a troll to me. Do a search on here for hybrids, crossbreeding, or any other forum for that matter and you'll see that hybridization threads usually end up in mudslinging and ad hominem attacks... and we'll have none of that here...

i dont see a problem with any hybrids. its no different than breeding dogs.

as long as hybrids, that otherwise would not exist in nature, dont find themselves in nature outcompeting the native fishes. this goes with all fish.

i think hybrids would be cool.

I agree with Somonas. While I've been known to take opinions contary to the norm, something smells quite fishy all of a sudden with some folk trying to start the mud-slinging debates. Now there are debates, and there are debates, but quite frankly, the issues being raised have been so overly-debated as to be no longer worth posting threads about.

Please, do a search on this site for previous debate topics before opening up such an opinion-heavy thread. If you don't have anything intellectually stimulatingly new to add, then don't post it. Freedom of speech notwithstanding, it is just a common courtesy to the rest of us.

I wasn't trying to start anything!. I just wanted people's opinions on what they think about Hybrids. I wasn't trying to start a huge argument or anything like
that!. I agree with itchy armpits on this one,who cares about which new hybrids are being made. As long they don't get thrown into nature and over take the natural breeds of fish. I'm sorry if anyone thought I was starting a huge argument.

P.S. Hey Somonas I live in Ottawa too!
