go big, or go ... betta?

no

consider 20 and up.
consider filter.
consider heater
testkit.
food.
net
lightbar

or consider a betta.
or a plant ...( lol-sorry...) with a goldfish.
small tanks are most often more difficult and demanding than a larger one.

Hope this helps

Ummm... okay. I wasn't talking about a goldfish in this post. I was talking about an Electric Yellow cichlid. The 2g hex DOES have a filter. The light keeps the temp quite warm. I DO have a test kit. I DO have a net. I will get cichlid food. (Ummm... duh!) Lastly the tank DOES have a light.

Thanks.

my cichlid

Yes I do have a cichlid in my 2g hex. I know it is too small for him, but I can't put him in with my other fish. I don't know what kind he is, here is a couple pics. I am going to get something bigger for him soon as I can. Does anyone know good tank mates for cichlids that they won't attack?

I would like to put him in one of my 10g tanks when I get a bigger tank for the other fish. But I don't know what I would have for tank mates. I know another cichlid is out of the question because they will fight to the death. Maybe some big cories would be alright. One of my cories is a good 2.5in long and is fat and is acually bigger than the cichlid, I dont think there would be a problem there.

ITS TOO SMALL DUDE! imagine being locked in a bedroom for a month. you WILL have FOOD, you will have a Window for FRESH OXYGEN and your room WILL be clean. how would you feel? I recomend you put him into a 10 gallon + aquarium...with other fish.

can't put him with other fish, he will attack them. I don't feel like cleaning up a bunch of dead fish. He's going to have to be taken back to the store. I'm not really in a hurry to take him back because the tank is crystal clean and he is very healthy and active. But like people has said, he does need more room. Something that is really weird though...... I have had him in that tank probably about 3 months minimum and have never seen a sign of algae. I don't know if that is good or bad:confused:
