I have a new 55 gallon tank in which I have has up and running for one month, I had 16 cichlids in it and added four new ones that all died as well as made my water cloudy. I did a water changes bought a new aquaclear 70 filter. All of my original fish are swimming along fine. My question is did the new fish overcrowd my tank causing it to cloud. I want my tank back crystal clear, will this new filter do the job? How long will it take for my water to clear up? Thanks for your help .

to be constructive here, the cloudy water is most likely from a bacterial bloom which was caused by the dead fish floating around in your tank. the fish propb died from aggression from the other fish. most cichlids get around 5-8 inches on avg, your tank is close to overstocked now and i wouldnt reccomend adding any more.

What types you have or pictures would be more helpfull though along with water ph ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. along with how often you perform w/c how much and how often do you feed?

to help clear the water up maybe try throwing in some carbon for a week or so and see if that helps. itll only help if it is NOT a bac bloom.
