I was thinking about getting a new fish for my aquarium, but i want a cichlid that has a great personality, and can still put up a fight. I really want an aggressive fish so that one day, i will be able to feed him feeders. What is the most aggressive cichlid that you can buy? I have a 55 gallon tank.

I agree cinlnk, why would you want a fish that will kill anything you already have and anything you might get, cichlidwatcher, you should plan ahead, do some research and get a picture in your head of what you want. Cichlids are not really aggressive, more so they are territorial, and if you already have fish in your 55 gallon and you want cichlids you may need to start over.

I in some ways agree with cinlnk. Its becoming a trend here to find something just for the sport of watching them eat feeders when cichlids offer much more then that.

If i were you i'd look into the Predetory Fish threads down below the Cichlid Section on the board. We don't carry pirahna here.

However, it is normal for cichlid owners to want agressive fish. Thats what they are. For the sole purpose of sport feeding later....no. Red Devils, Jack Dempsys, convicts, etc, take your pick.

There are much better ways into presuading someone not to do something other than jumping down their throat. My guess is that now not only will they buy a large cichlid to feed feeders too anyway, but they will most likley not return to this site. So we pretty much just blew a chance to educate someone on why that is not a good idea.
