CICHLIDS AND OTHER FISH ??s

How do you feel about Cichlids with other fish? I really admire the African Cichlids, but I only have one tank. I have heard and read the fish can be aggressive. How do they get along with other fish? what other fish get along with them if any?

Depends on what other fish. With African Cichlids....hardly any other fish are compatible...with small dwarf cichlids you can potentially place them in a community atmosphere.

It all depends on size, aggression etc. Size is always relative...when you think community fish tetras/livebearers/gouramis etc come to mind. But you can have a 'community' of cichlids, sharks, etc.

What kind of fish are you thinking of? Many african cichlid species are not overly aggressive, just aggressive eaters. It also depends on tank size/setup/decor etc.

Thanks so much for the advice. I think I am going to wait and later get a tank just for cichlids.
