So after i build a stand for a 29 gallon tank i would like to make it a cichlid tank. At the petsmart near me they have some really cool colored african cichilds there that say they only get like.. 3 inches long? does anyone know the name of these .. i havent been there for a while.

i looked at most of the dwarf cichlids ive heard of (apistos, kribs, and rams) but they just arent the colors these cichlids have.. they are a solid blue and black stripes and solid yellow and black stripes..

In a 29gal tank you don't have to many options as far as Malawi Africans (the colorful ones) go. But there are a couple you can look at.

Pseudotropheus saulosi
Pseudotropheus demasoni (possibly the ones you saw?)

Thats all i can think of right now, perhaps another name will come up later on. Yellow Labs (Labidochromis caeruleus) might be ok, but they can grow quite larger then the species listed above.

A tank of Pseudotropheus demasoni can make a pretty stunning display.
