1.do you pronounce cichlids "sich-lids" orc"kich-lids" or any other?

2.What is a good, cheap starting cichlid for a 20ukgalls tank(i think thats 30usgalls) anyway it's 30"x15"x12"?

3.could you post a site that has lots of info on this cichlid.

4.I am thinking either( )a keyhole cichlid or a blue acara.also is it "a-sara" or "a-kara"or something else.

That means there is an osmoregulatory problem, get your keyhole out of that water and place it back in the water it came from. Sometimes the fish will recover, sometimes it will not. Seeing as how you had such an acute reaction to your tank, you might want to scratch this batch of tank water and start over because who know what could've been the cause of such sudden bloating like that!

Keyholes are a species of Africa cichlid, but they are not a member of the RIFT VALLEY tribe. Keyholes come from the Congo (Zarie) River that is similar in composition to that of the Amazon in SA.

Blue "a-karas" are a South American Cichlid that will not fair well in a pH of 8.0 either.

I have 3 Keyholes and have never seen the bloating that you described. So I don't know whats going on there, but I can tell you that Keyholes enjoy each others company. I'd get a couple more and throw in there. They are also big fans of driftwood. Mine are about 2 inches long and are very active and easy to care for, an excellent begginers cichlid.
