Exactly as stated........high water quality and intense light as once they get to a certain size are virtually totally dependant on light. There are some species that you can have that are more forgiving of lower light intensity such as a squamosa .......even then they require high light and a mature tank that can accomodate their size. Most of these clams get huge with the exception of a T. Crocea but unfortunately the croceas and maximas are the highest light demanding of all the Tridacna clams.
