Cleaning up a plastic tank

Each of my tanks has been glass so far and with a bit of elbow grease and a blade I find glass is easy to clean up. I have just got myself a second hand perspex tank however and I'm wondering how to go about cleaning all the crud and hardness off - obviously I cannot scour or use a blade can I? How do I get it all shiny like new?

try oxy clean,
If it is acrylic they make specific cleaners for that but it sounds like you really mean plastic

Vinigar may get rid of the salt deposits if you soak it
