Cleaning water scale crap off top glass

What do you guys use to clean water stained glass and the scaly stuff?

I'm going to be getting a 38 gal. tank and want to clean it up good before using again.

you talkin about those white calcium/mineral deposits on glassnear the water's surface? I've been wondering how to get that stuff off. it doesnt come off by scraping it with alage scouring pads...maybe vinegar?

Vinegar works pretty well. I've also used a product called Lime-Off (by Jungle, I think), which is made for aquariums, that works really well. I have extremely hard water, and vinegar isn't always strong enough for a large buildup.

I have the hugest amount of that stuff on my old 10g, it's disgusting! I am going to have the biggest cleaning job everr if I plan on using the 10g again.

If the tank is empty, use Lime Away.

Works great.

if its not too bad just use a new scrubby, really hot water and lots of elbow grease

I use vinager with a srcub pad, i have really hard water so i do it kinda often to stay on top of it.

I think the Saltwater guys use muriatic acid to get there build off when they are setting up a new tank

I used a putty knife and scraped 80% of mine off. Then used a SOS pad with vinegar.. worked pretty well..
