Cloudy tank after adding sand

Friday, I decided to change out the gravel in my 20h and put in sand. When i put the sand into the tank, it became extremly cloudy, more so than any tank I had ever seen. Now, Sunday, it has pretty well cleared up all the way, but I was wondering what could have caused this? I have put sand in several other tanks, and had never had it cloud on me like this before.

maybe something with the bacteria in the tank???

Most sand that I have ever used will cloud a tank for one or two days while all the airbourne fine particles of sand settle. It's nothing serious to worry about.

if you didn't rinse the sand first it could have been very small bits dust, etc. i changed my at the weekend also !

Im guessing that it was just the sand settling. I did rinse it very well before I put it into the tank, and the water in the bucket that I rinsed it in was cloudy, but not for more that 10 min or so, and it all settled out. It is almost perfectly clear this morning, I just never had this happen before and it kinda freaked me out a bit.

you should have seen my tank when i was cleaning out the gravel i had you con't see a thing not even your hand in front of the glass! was horrible! just happy im back to sand

Thats the reason I switched over to sand in that tank. My wife has her goldfish in there, and we all know how messey those things are! I hope now that she can see the mess they leave, that she might actualy clean it! LOL, aww who am I kiddin, we all know she will yell at me to do it!
