I added some new live plants this afternoon and ever since I did my water is cloudy. I can see tiny white particles floating everywhere. Mid level to bottom there is hardly any particles but from midway to top there is so much the water looks cloudy. Everything tests fine but ph is still high (7.8). Can someone tell me what these particles are and will it just go away eventually? Is it coming from these new plants? Sadly, came home to find both my angel fish had died (only had them a week) :-(

Its probaly from when you planted the plants it knocked all the fish poop and everything eles off the substrate and thats what your seeing floating around. If tomorrow its still their which it wont be because its more than likely just debris then do a 30% water change.

Give it tonight to settle down and tomorrow it should be gone as logn as you have a half way decent filter.

Tank looks a whole lot better this morning and everyone seems to be doing fine. I learned last night that I don't have a chinese algae eater, I have a cory catfish! I saw a photo of one in a book and realized this is what I have. This explains why he darts up and down the glass so much. He is so fun to watch and he actually looks like he winks at me.
