Cloudy Water

What is it that could cause water to be cloudy?

Also, I made some upgrades to my tank. See below.

Well....a few different things......However in order to try to help you we will need to know the water parameters Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH, Temp and anything else you can test for. Are you testing with liquid tests or strips? Did the cloudiness happen after you made the changes? Is the tank planted? How long are the lights on and what type/wattage are the lights? Can you get a pic?

Heres a pic... I dont have any test strips at the moment. i plan to get some tomorrow. It doesnt look as cloudy in the pic though. I recently upgraded from a 10 gallon tank that was already cycled. I have a new filter on there for the bigger tank, but i am also running my old, smaller filter from the 10 gallon.

it looks fine... is it a milky cloudyness, or just simple particles of detritis floating through the water?

I found that my tank was cloudy when setting up and getting stable (normal), and when the filter cartriges were not clean. I changed the cartriges, and the tank started to get better. Check yours, and if it is dirty, change them slowly, or give them a good rinse in old tank water.

I 2nd Newmans post. If you could answer that, it would help us to give you suggestions.

I would not recommend changing your filter media, slowly or not. Just rinse them in the water you are taking out of the tank during water changes.
