Clown goatee

My clown has a goatee looking thing right below it's lip. What is that?

is it a growth or does it resemble hair?

I can't get a real good look becase it won't keep still. I want to say a bump, but just where it is makes it look like a goatee.

that looks like the sickness they always suffer is it like a pimple or excess of tissue if its that try to get medicine for him or he will eventually die

What kind of medicine are you referring to? It's nothing that will clear up on it's own?

usually it wont u can try a copper based treatment or quick cure but u should ask a fish pro cause i dont really remember what it is called but i know the clowns suffer from that since i have had that trouble in the past and the passed out

I have read that it can clear up with good water conditions, which mine are good. Is this thing contagious? To other fish? Other clowns?

not trying to be mean but maybe you should stop buying clowns.. how many have u lost in the last month month in a half?

3 of them. One was the result of my serpent star. The other two were from another LFS that I don't buy fish from anymore. This place I buy from now is a good place.

do you have a qt tank setup? or the capabulities to set one up?

Yeah, I have a 10gal I can use with heater, sponge filter or HOB filter. Which one would be better? Plenty of PVC to make some homes.

I would reccomend a sponge filter as the sponge could then bre easily thrown away after treatment.

Clowns I think are sensitive to copper.......I am not sure but why don't you try to catch it and take it back to the store that sold it to you.....???? just a thought

I have had this clown for a week a two. I'm going to the LFS tomorrow to see if I can do that or how I can medicate it.

Well the bump now looks more like the color of the fish's skin. Any idea what that means?
