Hi there,

I noticed some white spots on my Clown Loach (I've had for just a week) and I am pretty sure it's Ich. It's not fuzzy, there are 3 or 4 spots on his tail and body. I have 10 fish all together plus 1 frog. I bought Rid Ich +, but I am unsure of how to use it. Some people say I need to use it for a full 14 days to make sure I get rid of the Ich and turn up the temperature (the max temp on my heater is 82 degrees). Some say 10 days. Also, I read that I need to take out the carbon during the treatment. Won't this adversely affect the water quality if I take out the carbon for that long? Is Rid Ich + safe for the frog and the Clown Loaches (I have 3 of them)? I have a 20 gallon tank by the way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
God bless,
Jeri :)

I would read the instructions on the bottle carefully, and follow them. If it says to raise temperatures, do so. If it says to keep the temperature the same, do that. Taking the carbon out for 10 days will be fine. It's a good idea to do a water change before medicating anyway, so that will help your water quality.

Read the instructions about scale-less fish, and follow those instructions. The bottle will also say if it affects other creatures like snails or amphibians (frogs). Treat as long as it says on the bottle.
