I will be using the word Pleco several times because I don't believe that Pleco is a swear word. Many people spell it Pl*co because they think it is bad luck to spell it all out. Anyways-
Clown Plecos! There are a whole lot of em! But one of the nicest ones I think, are the banded ones. The picture below is of a banded peckoltia. There are many variants of these as well, such as the gold stripe, and candy stripe, and they are all considered seperate species.
So its a Pleco with stripes? So what? So it stays small. Peckoltias stay about 4" in an aquarium, and it takes them awhile to get there. I bought a 1/2" specimen and now 4 months later he's 1"
They also tend to cost more but its worth it to watch a 2" Pleco charge at a large fish and scare it away to get at a precious algae tablet.
Not picky eaters. They love their algae, algae tabs, sinking tabs, scraps, bloodworms, whatever. They love it. Go buy a clown pleco. They're real clowns *laughingc
