clown plecos- where can i find them?

I want a clown pleco to tackle the algae in my very first tank...I've looked at Petco and Petsmart in my area...they only have the common guys (18 inchers). Anyone know where I could find some in the Northwestern Phoenix area? Any other suggestions???

i found my clown pleco at petsmart.petco also has clown plecos once and a while.just keep your eyes open for a small brown fish hiding under stuff if you see the lable posted in the store.

Ive never seen one, but have heared they are expensive, how much was yours catfishmike?

i got mine for for $5.99 although mine is a candy striped clown not a true clown.true clowns go for about $8.99.of course your prices may vary

I got my true clown for 6.99, but I bought him at a mom and pop store out here. Ask petsmart if they can order a couple for you, there usually on there list, just don't see a need to order them. Give it a try, they'll get them if they can.

I find that clown plecos aren't too hot on the algae. My rubber-lipped (bulldog) pleco is much more diligent than my clown pleco ever was on algae.
