I am going to try to run an experiment feeding some F1 estherae fry Colour bits for 2 weeks to see if I can improve their colour. and then go back to their regular el cheapo flake food after for 2 weeks and see what happens. Theoretically the fry and parents should resemble my avatar in colour and rumour has it the way to do this is via colourbits and marine spirulina.

Just a question... do they get brighter with age anyway, or are yours particularly pale? From what I understand, most color-enhancing foods work best on red/orange colored fish. Good luck :)

If all else fails, send them on vacation to Mexico to get some sun :p

that would make sense.
I should do that tonight. they've only had 2 feedings so far

now this test might be complete b.s. if my suspicion that the white male is the father. then I would not be suprised if the fry are paler than usual

and that also might explain why the red zebras (redxred's) in the hobby are so pale.

hmmm. the red zebra fry from blue males are darker anyway
