I was wondering just what the title implies- what colour should the eggs be once they are fertilized and how long does it take for this colour to show up?

I believe me kribs laid their eggs sometime today (I would have likely seen them yesterday) and there are quite a few, the mother is constantly mouthing them (cleaning them I assume?) and the male is close by watching for danger. The eggs, however, are quite white.

From what I have read they should be more orange or yellow if fertilized but I couldn't find anywhere that said how long it takes for the colour to show up. Any help? Thanks in advance :)

I honestly don't have an answer for your question. However if the pair is young, it may well take them a time or two spawning before they get it down right. Believe me, it won't be long you'll be looking for krib contraceptive ;)

ok- thanks guys. They likely aren't fertilized then. I have no problems with this lol. To know they are spawning is enough for me. When I find a more permanent residency and can have a bigger tank, *then* I will hope that the eggs are fertilized and the young survive :p. As it is, if the eggs hatch and the fry survive, I have no idea what I will do with them in a month when the pair possibly hatch another batch lol. Hope against hope that someone around here is willing to take them from me.
