common plecos

Is a common pleco a mistake to have? I have been arguring with my friend of this? He said it will kill them when it gets bigger right now about 1 1/2 inches. About three weeks old. Help would be aprciated:)

They really only get about 14-18" or so in tanks... but still far too big for a 10g. Plus they are really messy fish, so not really good in smaller tanks for that reason as well.

As MAHA, and CAPSLOCK have already said Common Plecos get quite large. There are smaller species of Plecos, if you want to have a Pleco. But your tank is already heavily stocked so i wouldn't recommend getting one.

He already has one.

If your not getting another tank a lot larger anytime soon, the sadsly, yes it was a mistake. :(

Remember. Don't always trust the guys at the pet stores. For the fishes sake.
