Confused yet happy!

My silver dollar has always had a spot or two on him that looked like Ich, but I just thought it was his scale patterning messing with me. If it was Ich there wouldn't only be two spots on him for like six months. Anyways. I didn't really get to look at my fish the other day and then when I finally did there were salt like crystals all over him including his fins. I knew it was Ich and put him in my QT tank immediately. I conned him into the net for the first time. He is usually very difficult to net, but that's besides the point I just out smarted him this time. Alright I threw in Coppersafe this time instead of the heat salt technique and by morning he is back to only having the one or two salt like crystals on him. It's so conffusing, but at least his full blown Ich dissapeared overnight. I'm keeping him in the qt tank for a while to see if his two spots will disappear. Can Ich be visably present on fish for an extended period of time, but not turn to full blown Ich? This is actually my second silver dollar that has these spots on him even though they are healthy. Oh and water params of tank he came out of amm 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 ppm. Temp 78.

Fish can get a spot or two of ich, and it may keep coming back. I'd keep him in quarantine a week or 10 days to make sure the ich has gone. Make sure you clean out the QT after use so the ich doesn't stay in the tank to infect the next fish.
