convict cichlid attack my oscar

My oscar got attack by my convict cichlid and the oscar looks worn out. Is he going to be okay?

What size tank? Convicts are known killers of fish 3 times their size. Convicts can be nasty at times. Can you describe the injuries.....really no way to tell if the oscar is going to be alright unless we know more.

My tank size is 29 gallon. The oscar fins are nipped pretty bad. I could see some "pink" color looking fish skin. He's seem be kinds quiet now, on the bottom of the tank.

Was the convicts in the tank first? If so its there territory.

I've heard awful stories of convicts killing oscars.

29 gallon...oscars shouldnt be in anything smaller than a 55 gallon tank unless its temporary...

the oscar was in the tank for about a week b4 the convict...anyway the oscar is looking pretty bad...this morning(8-11-04) he's on his side,floating...

is the oscar still alive? do you have at least a 55 gallon for when he gets bigger? how big is he now? like i said, oscars should never be in anything smaller than a 55 gallon unless its temporary

I would take him out of the tank, if he does get better and start swimming again the convict might finish the job.

Ya tht would be better. Tk ur oscar and let him recover his life. Then i'd suggest u to remove ur convict, hv the oscar in & let him establish and then add the convict into the tank later. Also while the convict's out of the tank change the geography of the tank completely such tht the convict thinks ths is a new tank. Do hv a lot of territories. Broken flower pots'd be ideal. Then i think ths prob would be solved.

Save the oscar and find it a new home or put it in a much larger tank. A 29g is MUCH to small
