Convict Cichlids = Archocentrus Nigrofaciatus OR Cichlasoma Nigrofasciatum?

So I don't sound stupid on our web page (see my signature)... are Convict Cichlids = Archocentrus Nigrofaciatus OR Cichlasoma Nigrofasciatum?

the convict is Archocentrus nigrofasciatus

actualy this could be one of those cases where it could be both.if i remeber correctly.it depends on what book you read or how old the book is.i will try to find where i read about this so i can clarify.

catfish mike is correct it was called Cichlasoma Nigrofasciatum but has now been reclassified as Archocentrus nigrofasciatus

Hrmmm... hah hah well I got the right one from somewhere. Regardless, that guy seriously knows his stuff. Hit the contents and go to setting up a simple Convict Cichlid aquarium.

both are names for convicts, just as said above the name was changed, happens with fish all the time
