Convict Cichlids

I have two convict cichlids that i beleive are male and female, and i am slightly worried about them. My previous cichlid (which was never with the other two, as he dies before) was very agressive. These two are not. They hide at the back of the tank, are are very 'skiddish' i guess. They use to have plants in the tank, but i was told that if i want them to grow bolder, to take them out. Im also afraid they are not eating. they won't eat if anyone is near the tank, or if there is a light on. Should i be worried?

Wait a couple of days...

If you just got them, wait a couple of days... I've a bunch of Convicts, and I shuffled a couple around.... they all were a bit shy for the first 3-4 days in the new tank, so I would wait a little before getting too worried....

Hi, i have had them for quite a few months, probably since early last summer. They were a little more agressive when i first got them.

id give them cover, even if they arent coming to the front of the tank, hiding and fealing safe is better hten being terrified and having no place to run

Err... mine were pretty bold the first day I put them in. What gives? I mean they come up and beg for food, get excited when I whistle (feeding time) and I only got them last weekend (just before April began).

Mine are hardy. It's each other that are deadly.
