I'm slowly donating the fry from one mother to another pair of parents who seem to better care for the fry (and I don't want two tanks of fry going at the same time...)....

Anyways, anytime I work in either tank with my hand in the water, the little sucker (mom) nips me, which I know is natural for my disturbing her fry, but it startles me each time that it can nip as well as it can....

It hasn't drawn blood, but my hand goes flying out of the tank so fast!

Having been struck by 7' boa constrictors...

Having been struck by 7' boa constrictors and having learned to hold perfectly still when any snake (never handled poisonous) struck at me (if you move, you will tear their teeth and your skin), I don't think small bloody nips will scare me too much. I mean catching a garter snake usually produces that result.

Once a snake begins its strike, if the human body is not already in motion, the human brain can not physically react fast enough to get out of the way. You can, however, freeze. Believe me, every part of you tells you to jerk, but that makes it much worse.

Granted, those large boas would leave some nice bruises sometimes, and yellow ratsnakes bit me a lot more, Hah hah... unless it's like a large Oscar or Flowerhorn...

Monitor lizards... now getting bit by those scares me.
