Convicts in a commerial tank??

Im just wondering if convicts will be ok in my 63g commerial tank...(check fish in signature)

i'd say no because they a very aggressive, and would drive your other fish mad, and probably end up killling them.

no they definatly wont be ok. the convicts would be way to agressive to all of your fish!

that would be way too small! i would say at least a 20g for a pair of convicts. they are territorial, and like all cichlids need a resonable area of space.

check out mft's freshwater profile for some info:The fish pairs readily, are intolerent and bite. They eat plants. Couples form a patriarch/matriarch family and both care for the youngs. Not recommended for a community tank. Needs a tank with a gravel bottom and hiding places in rocks or inverted pots. Suggest a cover of floating plants.

 

[Cichlid-Man]

No for community. Way to aggressive. They are peacful at least for cichlids, when NOT spawning (mine were). But would kill every thing else in that tank in defense of their brood.

No for 6gal.

I would say a minimum for a convict pair is a 10gal (because i have bred them in a 10gal), but most would say 20gal.

10 will work when they are small for awile. But I just moved mine to a 20 long and they LOVE it.

i am giving my coldwater fish to my lfs and the 10g which they were in, i might get some convicts in there!

Sound good....anything i need to really take into acoount about them??

Not really, just if you do get a male and female they will spawn like crazy, i thinks its something like once every 3 weeks, they are also very good parents.

Convicts are very hardy. Not that you should test that, but if you do happen to miss a W/C or feeding.......they should be fine. Yes they will spawn like crazy so, be ready.

convicts are very hardy, and they hold there own against most bigger fish. when my cousin put his african cichlid in my tank, the convict was the only one fast enough to get away from him.
