Convicts - Male or Female?

Im going to buy some convicts; Because I want to breed them. How do I tell male and female apart in pink or black types?

I think this will work for the pinks - all else fail ask the LFS people, someone there should know- The key thing to look for on the Convicts is a orange belly on the female. Once they reach sexual maturity, it stands out very well. The male will tend to get more or a pronounced brow (some call it a lump on the forehead, I don't see much of it). As well, the male dorsal fin will extend father back.

The lady at my LFS didnt really know, all she knew was a red spot on tne belly for females, none on males.

Yeah, Unfortuantely, when they're young, it can be harder to tell...

its pretty easy, just look for the red/orange patch on the belly on the females
