I have a simmilar dilema as abercrombie, but its kinda different so I made a new thread.
I have just today set up my 10 gal. and my dad is having me put his goldfish in it that is currently in a 3 gal. the fish is about 1.5 inches right now. Seen as though he is going to be in the tank I not only need fish that will get along with goldfish, but fish that are comfortable in cool water. Anyone know any compatable cold water species?

if the ten is lightly stocked ,like say 3 fish max,thats cool.just make sure to do that weekly water change.i have seen some long weather loaches but i can't remember the max size i would guess 5-6 inches.but not to worry most loaches grow real slow.i would skip on the betta they do ok at room tempreture but don't really like it too much,plus the goldfish will probably hassle him.

The temperature would be room temperature, id say around 70*f give or take some during summer and winter.
I dont know the celius temperatures but I'm guessing 18-23*C is on the cooler side, its good to know that other fish can survive in that temperature, I'm really suprised to hear chiclids can.

I don't know what Dojos maximum size is, but I have two in a 29 gallon and they are both seven inches long.
Just remember, goldfish are heavy polluter and a 10 gallon is fairly small, you may not be able to keep a lot of other fish in there. I would go with WCMM's if you really want a variety.

WCMM= white cloud mountain minnows;)

To be honest, I think you'll be pushing it with just the goldfish in a 10g alone! As Caveman said, they are a large bodied fish that put out alot of waste.....

As far as keeping tropical fish at substandard temps....why would anyone want to do that? There is plenty of documentation that tropical fish require tropical temps......sure, the fish can survive at low temps for a time(and 18º to 23º C equals 64º to 73º F) but they will end up with compromised immune systems. You will not see their normal coloration, normal behaviour, normal lifespan, etc......not something I would recommend to anyone!!!!!

Thats why I asked for fish that would be comfortable in cool water, I dont want to put tropical fish in there, if I did they would just go in my other tank, I actually want fish that prefer to be in unheated water. Sorry if anyone misuderstood the question.
P.S. How big will this goldfish get?

Actually, I was directing the reply to Hazzamaya, not you Angelfish!! I understand that you want cool water fish, not tropicals in a cool water tank......

How big will the goldfish get? That depends on the goldfish! I know the regular ones commonly called comets can get to be about 10" or larger.....the fancy kinds usually aren't as long, but their bodies are deeper. I've seen orandas that were about 8" at the LFS.
