coral contamination

I think I just contaminated my tank. I was moving some of the rockwork around and scraped my finger leather and a "cloud" came out of it. now my xenias are melting and the finger coral is bent over. is all lost?

If you are worried I would do about a %50 water change.

What is in blood that will be harmful to corals? I can't think of anything.

i think he meant he scraped teh coral called finger leather and a cloud from the coral came out.

yea the coral was scraped, ended up losing 2 xenias, the finger leather, a six-line wrasse and my cleaner shrimp. now I know why the corals are so difficult to deal with.

that is really weird...in future do a large water change and run carbon if it happens again. really weird.

will do ares, I found it odd too, but I'm just starting out with the corals.

I abuse my leathers...cut them with razors etc...I really find it hard that a fingernail scrape could elicit that severe a reaction

Ya that is odd sounding... did you happen to wash your hand with something before dipping them in the tank that may have contaminated it?
