Coral Hitchhiker

Today I noticed on one of my rocks that I have what appears to be some sort of soft coral, it looks kind of like a pinkish white cup, about 3/4 cm long, with a slight indent on the top. Considering it survives (my lighting isnt ready for corals yet) and if I run constant carbon on my hob, could I safely mix sps corals with the one softie if I gave them some distance? Or would it cause problems?

it will most likely be fine as long as they have some distance. have you considered the possibility that the hitchiker is a sponge?

Yes I have considered, Ive been researching online and cant find something that looks like it, but to me it looks more like a coral but I could be wrong, gotta find out.

hmm...kind of tough to tell...you sure its soft?

Yes, it even sways slightly in the current. I just re aranged my tank and put it a bit closer to the light, guess I got to wait and see what it does. It was exposed to air during transportation to the tank.
