So i got my new light today for my 15gal. 20" Coralife 1-96W 50/50 (http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=ES53101)
Originally i was planning to use both my old 36w fixture and this new fixture however measurements i first took forgot to include space for the mounting legs, thus temporarily halting this plan until i can do a little DIY or something. So right now i am just using the new 96w fixture.
Now i have heard watts per gallon is not a good single guideline when going for coral but rather the spectrum (?) of the bulb, depth of the tank, etc. Sorry i am a total noob at lights...i keep rocky cichlid tanks usually.
Anyways, my tank is about 17.5 inches deep. On the box the 96W fixture lists the bulbs as "True Actinic 03 Blue (50%) and 10,000k Daylight (50%)" in 4 tubes. What type of corals should i be looking at keeping with this setup? Keep in mind i have room for more rock and would be able to stack it to raise some corals a bit higher in the tank if needed.
What about if i switched over to a normal 12inchish deep 10gal or so?
