i'm in the process of gathering equipment for my (soon to be) 35 gallon marine hex and i'm wondering if anyone has used Coralife's PC Aqualights?

The hood i'm looking at is the 20" Aqualight Deluxe Series - Double Linear Strip with 50/50 4-Tube (quad) Compact Fluorescent Lamp, on/off switch, 8 foot power cord, cooling fans, built-in ballasts, sleek aluminum housing, highly- polished reflector and acrylic lens cover.

Will this be enough for my tank? It's about 20" deep and i'm planning on keeping fish and corals. No clams or anenomes.

It's great! Provides excellent lighting as long as your tank isn't the 20" depth. Great bang for the buck and a whopping 96 watts of 50/50. I use one on my nano 10 gal and it's great, I can keep anything in it, like SPS or clams if I wanted although just some softies and LPS for now.

I believe a 35 is 23x20x24, so the 20" would be the max. I've always like to have a bit extra, although at times can be overkill. You can always position corals around to be in indirect lighting, so the harsher wattage won't burn them up. But as long as you won't be venturing into anything beyond soft corals and LPS, you should be ok.

If you'd want to go the metal halide route, a nice 175 would work out great for keeping almost anything. Don't think this is necessary though.

Thanks so much!! *thumbsup2

Now, i just have to save up my pennies!

Of course, i'd probably be a whole lot closer if i hadn't spent that 35 bucks today for my new 10 gallon freshie :p

I was thinking about getting the 9" mini version for my 5 gallon tank. It has 2 CF 9W 6700K bulbs. Will this be enough to actually put plants in this tank? I plan on putting a pair of shellies in the tank (brevis), and I'd like to have a few plants in there with them.

I have the 96 watt pwrquad, the fans are a little loud but it goes off at 830 so It dosnt bother me when i go to sleep. The actinec spectrum is cool to see im my saltwater tank. Im satisfied, i also got mine from Innovativelights.com for 107 shipped with adjustable mounting legs, I highly recommend that sight, great sevice.
