I just got three melanistius cories and i want to make sure they are not being neglected and getting fed. I got wafers designed for the catfish and I drop them at night, but at times I notice the darn tiger barbs going after them. The cories do not go after the food and just lay there, often inside the fake driftwood, where is usually where they tend to hang out. Is this normal, or are they not getting fed? Dropping the wafers ususally does not go unnoticed by other fish, particularely the barbs. I have even tried to feed them myself by dropping a wafer very close to them, too.

Is there anything else I should be doing so my cute cory cats are getting fed properly? Im concerned that they may be neglected, or not getting their share. or perhaps they simply don't like the wafers and I should use shrimp pellets, instead? Ive added the wafers at night a couple so I cant say for sure whether they got to it or not, since they do tend to come out at night.

by the way, I feed them the Hikari sinking wafers for catfish and bottom feeders. Thanks

i keep Peppered and Aunus Cories and i know that it takes them a few minutes to go after the sinking wafers. If you are really concerned about them not eating, i recomend the frozen bloodworms because after a few moments they sink to the botom of the tank as a clump. My cories LOVE them, but they will eat anything they can find on the bottom, and that includes flakes and anything else they deem edible.

doesnt that pollute the tank? My concern is overfeeding the tank and have food simply decompose and pollute.

Alot of people say they will eat flakes, but I cant see that happening. The only way for that to happen is if you feed more then that you should and have the excess drop to the bottom of the tank. Unless, they learn to swim up to get some, but some are slow learners, while other types of fish may not be able to do so.

Tonight I bought some shrimp sinking pellets and even when I managed to drop it right near them, they just didnt show much interest and start digging in the gravel and on the decorations. I want to make sure they get their share, but I also dont want them to be neglected.
