I came home from work the other day to one of my paleatus cories belly up. He had a red dot on his stomach which looked like his insides were coming out. I saw a thread about this the other day, but I couldn't find it. So, I wanted to know if anyone knows what could have caused this. Was it a parasite or something? Or did I do something wrong? I can't figure it out. :(

I tested my water and everything was okay.

My peppered cory did the same thing. It had a hole in its stomach and looked like it had exploded.:(

It could have been an internal parasite, or a twisting of some internal organs that caused pressure/back up and finally let go:(

Keep an eye on your other fish for listlessness, lack of appetite, and sluggish behavior.

Sorry about your fishy:(

Child, what drugs are you on? Pass them over here.

Flex, don't know what happened but "internally combusted" makes my imagination go funny. Sorry about your cory, I have eight and I think they're adorable.

Nah, I wasn't thinking terrorists. I was thinking more along the lines of an alien.....you know, like the movie? ;)

Look for sluggish behavior, Leopardess? Hmmm....when my cories aren't going nuts looking for food, then they're laying around like lazy @$$es. It'll be hard to tell.... :p

Thanks everyone. Hopefully, this won't happen too often (needless to say  ).
