Corys V Loaches

Just out of interest I would like to start of an argument about which are better overall, corys or loaches. You could also recommend your favourites.

Before I used to love corys but they never seemed to live really long in my tank even if they seemed very healthy. After having weather loaches and my zebras now I think loaches have more personality as they come up for food with the other fish and do actually move!!

My zebra loaches wizz around all day..they give me a headache!!

Shame the Cory's dont survive in your tank, longest lived tank raised Corydoras was 34 years old.

I personally love loaches, though I never thought I would. I too, have a zebra loach, and he's the fish with the most personality in my tank. I haven't had cories, though, so I can't reaaally say loaches are better, but I have my suspicions.

I love both of them. If I had to choose between which to own (rather than having both) I think I would choose loaches. I love the way the clown loaches almost wave at you when they swim up the tank walls. And I think it's really funny when my dojo sleeps in the branches of my plastic plants.

Have you noticed how cories and loaches both wink at you?

hehehehe i DARE you to guess which ones i like better but seriously, i like corys just as much. my biggest albino (Fatty) is starting to become a treat to watch, he does all the tricks and fancy swimming he did when he was small, hes just really fat i wonder where he gets the energy to ricochette to the top of the tank at lightning speed!

my clown loaches also love catching my eye with theyre schooling and they love to eat in a cluster which looks like a loach feeding frenzy hehehe*thumbsups

i would think that corys are a more suitable aqarium resident before a loach.corys are much more peaceful,laid back and not nearly as hyperactive as a loach.not to say that loachs aren't good fish just really high strung and antagonistic.

I've never kept corys before, but I hear they are really cool fish. My clown loaches are just plain cool though. They are just so much fun to watch, with their fins flapping around wildy as they just hover in the water, and sleeping on their backs. My oldest clown loach is also named Fatty btw! And clown loaches can live in rift tanks with African Cichlids (probably not the crazy ones though)!
