We have all kinds... but our Peppered, C. Paleatus,
(3 males and 1 female) just started mating behavior and now we have eggs. They are as feisty as jack
rabbits so we didnt have to do anything special.

Personally i like the arched cories, they are hardy, stay relatively small, and are very beautiful. Not likely though you will breed them, no one has, that is why they are wild caught.

What ever you choose i hope you enjoy them,

I read somewhere that there are over 100 types of cory. I only have three types in my tank (bronze, pepper and albino). I was also looking around for others, but the problem seems to be that the more attractive cories are wild-caught and are expensive. After seeing some of the prices (the equivalent of 6 US dollars to 12 US dollars for a single fish), i decided to make do with what I already have. :(

I have 3 C.juliis. They have awesome personalities, and are so active. I also have 6 C.sterbais. They are very pretty. If you want to get some tank-raised C.sterbais and others, you can buy them on-line from Alloddballaquatics.com. I highly recommend them. Cories are the best!

I have to agree with the Arched or Skunk variety.
I have three that are very active and very hardy. They went into the tank after I thought it was done cycling, but turns out it wasn't, and they are constantly searching for morsels.

I think mine have ESP with the other cory's in the tank, because they all seem to stop and start scavenging at the same time, even though they are in different parts of the tank. Also, last night, I saw all three of them resting on leaves, on different plants in different parts of the tank.

if i get three corys but they are different types, they'll still school together, right? Cuz I want to be able to name them and identify them.... i found that really hard with bronze corys...

I've not done this personally but I've heard of other people's experience. They say that they sort of hang out together out of necessity, but that they do not appear to really like it.

I've also heard that two of one kind will let a third different one near them, but the third does not really shoal properly because they may not let it.

At one point, I only had one panda in my tank and it spent most of it's time wedged between a box filter and the glass. Never seemed happy. Died after two weeks. That's when I decided to get three of the same kind.

Fish of a fin swim together. Okay, so that doesn't really go, but Nosidam has got it right. Stick with like cories, or at least get three of each variety you are interested in. They do much better with same species playmates.

okay... so much for properly naming them... maybe they'll look slightly different... i'd rather them be happy, though... I did notice that when I had an albino and two bronze, the bronze would hang out together a lot more than all three... see, i thought I had all of the same type, that's what Petco said... i asked for albinos but they gave me bronze ones... i'm not going there anymore...
