heater?? He's about six inches long, but he's the fastest thing in the tank. I'm fairly sure the two 'feeder' goldfishes didn't do it, and I know the oto's and the white clouds didn't. Do I need a heater guard with a weather loach?? Could it just have spontaneously broken?!?

Did you unplug the heater when you changed the water? They're very easy to crack if you leave them on when changing water.

It's possible he broke it.

The Visitherm Stealth heaters or the titanium heaters are hard to break, and aren't a lot more expensive than glass ones.

Yup... unplug it every time. Anyway, it's a done deal so thanks for the tip on a more unbreakable type to get.
