I just noticed little white spots on one of my guppies so I'm also assuming ich. That website was really helpful. My guppy is now in quarantine, anyone have any advice as to the most effective ich medication?

Ich has two stages - one stage where it appears on the fish - and another where it drops to the bottom of the tank before once more attaching to the fish. Because of this, it's best to treat the whole tank, and not individual fish.

Most Ich meds will do the job effectively, but be carefull to follow the instructions on the packet closley - and don't forget to repeat the treatment again after 5 or 7 days - that way you get to all of the ich in the tank, and not just the ones on the fish (two stages - remember).

Although salt can work - meds are much simpler to use, and dosing is easier to work out.

You'll find ich is quite common with new purchases, but will seldom return to a treated tank.

I can't help but highly disagree. Salt & heat is the way to go, hands down...much, much simpler than dosing with meds. But to each his own. ;)
