Creating Algae?

I have one of those plecosmus sucker fish and know that they eat algae. How do I create algae? I know that I have to do something with the lights. It is just a hood light with those two light bulbs in a 20 high. Thank you

you dont need to create algae to feed them, you can buy algae wafers or feed them cucumber slices.

They enjoy cucumber slices and algae waffers, that's what mine eats.

So I can just throw a slice of cucumber in the water adn they will get it off the top of the water? Should I rinse them off before I put them in the water or will they cloud the water? Thank you

You have to weigh it down with something like tie it to a rock or something.

I would purchase one of those veggie clip things. When I had a pleco I use to feed him off of those nemo clip deals. He really seemed to like the cucumber slices. What kind of pleco do you have?

make sure you remove the seeds from the cucumber, and also remove it from the tank once the pleco is done with it, as it will cloud up the water if you just let it dissolve in there

It's not that big of a deal to take out the seeds, the rest of the fish will eat the seeds pretty quick.
